Gear Spindles
Gear spindles are fundamental transmission elements in mill plants: they connect the rolls to the motors, ensuring high torque and the compensation of misalignments. GGT spindles of the GreenFlex GF series are designed specifically for mill plants, where the driving and driven components are necessarily misaligned and subject to variations in angle. Thanks to advanced tooth profiles (crowned teeth with a wide contact surface), special heat treatments and high-strength materials, these spindles ensure high performance, operating efficiency and minimum maintenance even in extreme conditions. A distinctive innovation is the patented automatic grease lubrication system, which extends maintenance intervals and makes the process more reliable and more sustainable.

Gear spindles for bar mills
Bar mills (long products) require gear spindles able to handle significant angular and axial misalignments due to the length of the rolling trains. GGT spindles for bar mills combine high load capacity with considerable adaptability, allowing very high torque to be transmitted even in the presence of vibration and relative movement between motor and roll. Their modular construction makes it possible to customise each spindle according to the rolled profile and the operating conditions, ensuring reliability over time and ease of overhaul. The result is a stable and safe transmission even in mills for rounds, sections and rails, where stresses are particularly severe.
Gear spindles for hot rolling mills
These spindles are designed for hot rolling mills, where they must withstand very high temperatures, impact loads and extreme torsional torque. GGT engineering guarantees robust gear teeth and reinforced sealing systems, able to operate in thermally heavy duty environments without any loss of reliability. Gear spindles for hot rolling effectively compensate for the misalignments typical of the initial (roughing) rolling trains, ensuring continuous power transmission even under thermomechanical stress.
Gear spindles for cold rolling mills
In cold rolling mills, where coupling precision and surface finish are critical, GGT gear spindles offer controlled backlash and maximum stability. They are designed with tight tolerances and optimised gear teeth to operate in environments at moderate temperatures but with high cyclic loads. These spindles ensure accurate alignment and reduced vibration, helping to improve the quality of the rolled product and the lifetime of downstream machinery. Even in the restricted spaces typical of cold rolling mills, GGT solutions ensure easy installation and simplified maintenance.
Self-lubrication system
Thanks to its experience, GGT has equipped these gear spindles with a compact, sealed internal oil system. Once installed they need no lubrication for about 9 months – unlike many models on the market that require weekly lubrication.
