Slipper spindles

Slipper spindles are transmission spindles used above all in the roughing areas (roughing stands) of hot rolling mills and in mill plants for flat products. In these demanding applications, GGT slipper spindles offer maximum robustness and load capacity, being designed to withstand exceptional stresses and significant relative movements. Their “slipper” construction absorbs extreme impacts and vibrations while still ensuring smooth power transmission. GGT has unique experience in this field, having manufactured record-size slipper spindles for international steel plants (up to tens of tonnes in weight and transmitted torque in the order of tens of thousands of kNm). Every slipper spindle is designed to measure according to the specifications of the mill plant, using special materials and strict quality controls to ensure absolute reliability and a long operating life, even in the most demanding conditions.
